MedShare Wins Canadian Health Informatics Awards Project Implementation Team of the Year
Today MedShare was awarded Project Implementation Team of the Year at the 2005 Canadian Health Informatics Awards Gala.
This prestigious award recognizes MedShare’s achievement in implementing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) portal solution in the home health care sector. The project demonstrated innovation, knowledge transfer, implementation of best practices and resulted in substantial adoption and utilization by health care workers. At Therapy Partners Inc., the reference site for the EHR portal, 62/62 health care practitioners moved to the new paperless medical records solution, saving time and money, and improving organizational effectiveness.
“This award is an honour to receive – and it reinforces our commitment to professional, client-centered project implementation,” says Barry Billings, president of MedShare. “In this case it was our client’s drive to improve access to information, reduce administrative burden and focus on client care that provided the impetus for change.
The impact of the system has been a definite reduction in administration. This is significant when you consider that a 5% reduction in administration would save $75 million annually in Ontario, or provide funding for an additional 28,000 clients per year.”
Dr. Laurence Hewick, MedShare’s Chairman adds “every project is an opportunity for us to provide tools that reduce health care workers’ paper burden and allow them to focus on patient care.”
